Daren gave this book to me as a birthday gift in October. We had both been missing all the glaringly obvious opportunites Colorado has to offer as far as hiking and exploring. We know we can still have great outdoor experiences here too we just have to be intentional about it. This present was a step in the right direction!I really liked the dedication from the author to his daughter on the inside of the book. Daren has it in his car right now, but it goes something like this..."when looking for an adventure, don't forget to start in your own backyard." We have definitely learned to appreciate the beauty of Indiana since moving back. (Don't get me wrong we LOVE the magnificence of Colorado, but there are some great things here too). The spring time is so pretty here, flowers and leaves on trees popping out everywhere.
We hope to visit several state parks this summer. My thought is if I put this out there on the blog we will be more likely to do it:) We started with McCormick's Creek State Park in Spencer. It was the 1st of the Indiana State Parks and less than an hour from our house. Just driving down there was fun. Daren was able to take me through a couple of his little "burgs" he goes to for work and we passed fun street names like "Drunkard's Lane" (totally NOT kidding) and "Wolf Mountain" (seriously...Indiana should not be allowed to name anything "mountain").
OH fun, Angela! I love the fact that you guys are proactive about adventures. Looks like you had a wonderful time with many more to follow.
